Collingtree Park GC are holding their 2015 Junior Open on Thursday the 9th April 2015. The Open is the first of 12 events that count towards the Partnership's Junior Order of Merit.

For 2015 the Northamptonshire Golf Partnership are pleased to announce that it will again be running it's Junior Order of Merit. This year twelve Junior Opens will contribute towards "The Race to the Grand Final 2015".

For 2015 Northamptonshire will again be running it's successful County Academy U14 Coaching programme. This year the programme has been expanded with 12 groups running across the county.

This programme is aimed at boys and girls aged betweem 8 and 14, who have talent and interest but who are not currently part of the county squad coaching programme. The aim is for the coaches working with these youngsters to look at all aspects of their games, and provide the necessary coaching support to enable the young golfers to attain their full potential.

Following approval by England Golf Voting Members at the General Meeting on the 2nd July 2014 to support a proposal to pilot a new approach to increase membership and participation (IMP), 12 counties submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) form. Following a review by a panel made up of executive staff, Board representation and Development Committee shortlisted counties were invited to attend a meeting with England Golf to present their ideas.

Northamptonshire is pleased to announce that along with Staffordshire and Warwickshire they have been selected, by England Golf, as the counties to support the delivery of the pilot programme.

The final of the season long Junior Order of Merit took place at Northants County Golf Club on Wednesday 29th October. Qualification for this event took place during the summer over a series of junior open competitions around the county. To qualify for the final players had to finish in the top 12 places in the boys table and top six in the girl table at the end of the season. The event was once again kindly sponsored by Moulton College and Footjoy/Titleist.

PGA Professionals Aaron Shepherd and Shay Brennan have been extremely busy over the summer months introducing new people to the game and further developing the clubs junior section.

After 12 junior opens around the county the final tables have been drawn up and the finalists are now known for The Northamptonshire Golf Partnerships Junior Order of Merit Grand Final in October.

The twelve clubs who hosted a junior open are to be thanked for their efforts in putting on a well managed and highly competitive event. Support at the events has been good and gave a focus to the junior season especially as the last events saw players scramble to gain the last few final places.

The season-long battle to find the winners of the 3rd Junior Order of Merit "The Race to Grand Final" is beginning to pick up speed as the Junior Opens start to come along thick and fast. The competition managed by the Northamptonshire County Golf Partnership will use the results from 11 junior opens hosted by clubs across the county to form two Order of Merit tables, a scratch and a nett table. From these tables the top 12 boys and top 6 girls in each table will contest the Championship Final which will be held at Northants County in the October half term.

Martin Izzard - BEM

Northamptonshire Golf Partnership Chairman, Martin Izzard, a man with a passion for golf and growing the game was presented with the British Empire Medal (BEM) yesterday in Northampton.

On Tuesday 5th August 2014 Priors Hall Golf Club will be hosting their Junior Open.
It is open to boys and girls who were under 18 years of age on 1st January 2014.
