I am delighted to announce details of the Northamptonshire County GC 2012 Junior Girls' Open, which is to be held on Sunday September 23rd 2012.
Last year saw the first Girls' Open, and the club worked hard to make it a success - and success it was! Thre was a really good turnout with some competitors travelling considerable distances. Ashleigh Greenham from West Essex was the first winner, and was presented with a wonderful new trophy. She promises to return to defend her title and bring many of her West Essex friends!
The main aim of the competition is to extend the opportunity Girls are given to play in competitive golf as well as providing an experience to play other courses. This year a 9 hole competition will also be held which will provide the opportunity, for those with handicaps of 36-54, of starting the learning curve of larger competitions, in a relatively 'protected' environment.
The club were thrilled with the way the Open went last year, and it aims to build on this experience. Northamptonshire County Golf Course is a Harry Colt Course, in the heart of the historic Northamptonshire countryside, and the feedback from both competitors and parents last year was so positive that we are sure most will return.
